“Home Break is an event Jeff Urbahn and I started in the spring of 2023, bringing a group of pro riders together to ride and shoot in a modified halfpipe at my home mountain, Steamboat. It started just as an idea to add a couple of features to Steamboat’s pipe and has blossomed into this really fun celebratory week at the end of the season. Steamboat’s park crew gets a chance to showcase their skills and creativity, and media and riders come from all over to ride, shoot, and just enjoy themselves. 

We learned that first year how much it means for everyone to be a part of it. Our crew of just a few pros the first year became 20 the next year with about as much media, who are not getting paid to show up, but are just looking for a good time. The local rippers are invited to take some laps, and anyone can hang out and see what is going down. We also included a community jam and a raffle for SOS Outreach this spring, and we hope to continue growing it. I think it means a lot to the snowboard community in Steamboat because it helps shine a light on the cool scene I grew up in, and brings in pros to inspire the younger generation of riders there.”*
