The 4 Vallées, the largest ski area in Switzerland, unites six resorts: Verbier, La Tzoumaz, Bruson, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon, creating a playground of 410km of runs (24 blue, 39 red and 10 black), connected by 80 ski lifts. From 1300m to 3330m (the summit of Mont Fort), in addition to breathtaking views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, the area has limitless possibilities for all snowboarders, from beginner to pro rider level. As a result, there are now 11 freeride itineraries throughout the resort marked out by the ski patrol and safeguarded from the hazards of the mountains. Freedom, sweeping turns and movie-perfect snow are all within easy reach on routes shown with a yellow line on the piste map and by yellow and orange poles on the ground.
Verbier’s Snowpark, located in La Chaux, awaits with a wide range of diverse modules, including kickers, rails, boxes, a big airbag, and more. It is suitable for all levels, secure, and maintained daily for your utmost enjoyment! Three lines are available: blue, red, and black.
The endless playground that is Verbier extends far beyond the slopes. You can have fun on the 7-kilometre toboggan run in La Tzoumaz or experience the thrill of the Mont Fort zipline, starting from an altitude of 3300 metres. There are also plenty of opportunities for exploration, whether ski touring or splitboarding from mountain huts to reach the region’s iconic peaks. Or, if you prefer, clear your mind on the cross-country skiing loops and enjoy the tranquillity of nature on snowshoes.
Verbier may be perched 1500m up in the Alps, but it has transport links that make it easy to get to from anywhere. With a train station at the heart of the destination, its proximity to Geneva Airport and the crossroads of Switzerland with France and Italy, Verbier is infinitely reachable by train, car or plane: or any combination thereof.
Verbier offers the widest range of accommodation in the region, from apartments and chalets to hotels of all standards, all within a unique atmosphere. As the destination is extensive, visitors also have the option to stay in quieter and more affordable locations such as Le Châble or La Tzoumaz while still enjoying the same access to the slopes.
Raclette, potence, croûte: if these intriguing names don’t instantly stimulate the taste buds, sampling them will! In Val de Bagnes, the homeland and capital of raclette, it’s much more than a tradition – it is an art, a way of life. For an authentic taste of raclette, crafted with the finest Bagnes PDO cheese, of course, head to Eddy’s Raclett House in Bruson or Le Caveau in Verbier. Another outstanding Bagnes speciality is the potence (gallows) – succulent meat flambéed on a spiked metal apparatus which can be enjoyed at the Hôtel La Vallée in Lourtier or the au Vieux Verbier restaurant. As for croûtes, grilled cheese dishes, whether plain or topped with mushrooms, la Marmotte restaurant is the place!
