The Hintertux Park Opening Kicks Off the 2025 Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour

The countdown is on: From October 3 to 5, 2025, Hintertux will once again become the hotspot of the international freestyle community. For the 21st time, the Hintertux Park Opening marks the start of the winter season on the Hintertux Glacier – a weekend full of style, progression, and true community spirit.

What began as a small regional glacier season kickoff has grown into a staple in the European freestyle scene – and in 2025, it even serves as the opening event of the prestigious Rock A Rail Ski & Snowboard Tour. Before the rail-tour heads into urban settings (Thun, Innsbruck, Riga, and The Hague) later in the fall, it launches in Zillertal in the heart of the Alps, with Hintertux as the first stop.

This year, the Opening once again offers a mix of beloved highlights and fresh new features:
Werni Stock’s Transfer Games by Quiksilver in Betterpark Hintertux bring creativity and airtime to the
forefront. At the Kids Shred with snowboard icon Gigi Rüf and Ästhetiker veteran Steve Gruber, young
talents gain their first valuable freestyle experience. The Snowfest Village at the Fernerhaus features an
art installation and the free test area – where riders can try out the latest gear of the season right where
it matters most: on snow. And the action isn’t limited to the mountain: The Movie Night at the Tux
Center and parties at the Hohenhaus Tenne have been part of the tradition for years – perfect
opportunities to celebrate, connect, and get stoked for the winter ahead.

Rock A Rail goes Hintertux – Rock A Rail stands for pure street-style, creative tricks and lines, and
authentic jibbing – raw, technical, and inspiring. The open qualification in Betterpark Hintertux gives
all motivated riders the chance to earn a coveted spot in the main Rock A Rail event at the valley station.
Here, top snowboarders and skiers gather for the first showdown of the tour. And there is more on the
line than just the glory: The top 3 men and women in each sport will qualify directly for Rock A Rail
Thun (one week later), as well as for the third tour stop at Snowfest Innsbruck at the end of November.
