The first chapter of The Common Line for this winter has wrapped up in South Lake City, bringing together snowboarders, industry figures and members of the wider community for a series of conversations about snowboarding’s past, present and future.
At the heart of the gathering were four roundtable discussions, moderated by Desiree Melancon, exploring everything from career paths and snowboard culture to the relationship between brands, retailers and the people who keep the industry moving.
The Long Game brought together Mikey LeBlanc, Gabby Maiden and Bjorn Leines to discuss their journeys through snowboarding, including stepping away, exploring different paths and finding their way back.
Beyond the Boards, Brands, Resorts & Retail saw Peter Line, Nirvana Ortanez, Alex Andrews and Max Reimer explore the relationship between brands and retailers, and what the future might hold for the snowboard industry.
Behind the Lens: Documenting Snowboarding Culture brought photographers, filmmakers and storytellers Jake Price, Mia Lambson, Justin Meyer and Shane Charlebois together to discuss the people documenting snowboarding and shaping how its stories are told.
Finally, The Modern Snowboard Career featured Iris Pham, Spencer Schubert and Bode Merrill, looking at what it means to build and sustain a professional career in snowboarding today.
Beyond the discussions, the event was an opportunity for people from across snowboarding to connect, exchange ideas and spend time together.
The first gathering marks the beginning of The Common Line, creating space for conversations about where snowboarding has been, where it’s heading and the people shaping its future.
