Days of Thunder: Dundret Delivers Again

In the middle of the Easter holiday, April 3–5, Dundret Gällivare once again turned into a meeting point for Scandinavian snowboarding, hosting the second edition of Days of Thunder in Swedish Lapland.

The event, created by Snowboy Productions together with Swedish rider PJ Gustafsson, continues to stand apart from the traditional contest format. There are no judges, no rankings, and no pressure to perform. Just a tight crew of invited riders, a custom-built park, and long spring sessions focused on filming, creativity, and style.

After four days of shaping at a new location, the 2026 setup came together under blue skies, featuring a series of unconventional builds, some never seen before. Riders from across Scandinavia, along with a mix of international names from the US, Canada, and beyond, rolled in for three days of extended sessions built around progression rather than podiums.

The atmosphere stayed true to the event’s DNA: five-hour laps, real snowboarding, and a strong sense of community. The riding matched it.

Ruben Rosenfors stood out with big, controlled airs near the “Thor’s Hammer” feature, while Zenja Potapov approached the park with a more creative eye, linking lines that made full use of the terrain. Kevin Rahko and Nigo Omma Simma turned the left hip into a launch pad, boosting straight airs and 360s well beyond what the feature was likely designed for. Blanca and Frej Linnes brought a different kind of energy, riding together with a flow that felt almost synchronized.

Then there was Leo Haappalainen. Still relatively unknown, the Finnish rider quietly built momentum all weekend, going bigger each lap. By the final session, he pushed things further than anyone else; first locking into a 50-50 across the top of the hammer, then, in the closing minutes, stepping it up with a frontflip off it. A line that hadn’t even been attempted before, let alone landed.
