Two decades after introducing its Banana Tech rocker/camber hybrid, Lib Tech celebrates one of its most recognisable snowboards with a 20th-anniversary edition.
Twenty years ago, Lib Tech introduced the Skate Banana, a snowboard that helped reshape the way riders thought about board design. Now, the brand is celebrating two decades of the model with a special anniversary edition that stays true to the original concept.
First introduced with Lib Tech’s Banana Tech rocker/camber hybrid profile, the Skate Banana combined a playful, easy-to-ride feel with all-mountain versatility, becoming one of the brand’s most recognisable boards.
“It carves great, it floats great, it freestyles great… I mean, it’s a good time,” says Lib Tech co-founder Pete Saari. “When you make a perfect song you can listen to it 20 years later and it’s still a perfect song. The Skate Banana to me is like a perfect song.”
The Skate Banana, 20 years on
The anniversary model retains the original Banana Tech rocker/camber hybrid profile, designed to offer stability on hardpack, manoeuvrability for freestyle riding and float in powder.
It features Lib Tech’s Magne-Traction® serrated edges, an FSC®-certified Aspen/Paulownia core and a sintered knife-cut base.
Handcrafted at Mervin Manufacturing’s factory in the USA, the anniversary edition celebrates both the Skate Banana’s design heritage and its continued place in Lib Tech’s snowboard line-up.
Twenty years later, the idea behind the Skate Banana remains much the same: make snowboarding fun.
