Rock A Rail kicked off its 2026 autumn tour at the Hintertux Park Opening over the weekend, with Katja Dutu and Niek van der Velden taking the wins.
More than 80 riders from around the world lined up across snowboarding and freeskiing, with Friday’s qualification at Betterpark Hintertux deciding who would join the invited riders in the semifinals.
On Saturday evening, the action moved down to the Hintertux glacier valley station for the main event, where the new Rock A Rail setup got its first proper outing of the season.
In the women’s snowboard contest, Katja Dutu picked up exactly where she left off. After winning the 2025 Rock A Rail Tour Final in The Hague, the Dutch rider opened the new season with another win in Hintertux. Fellow Dutch rider Melissa Peperkamp took second, while last year’s Hintertux winner Marie Kuhlmann rounded out the podium in third.
There was another Dutch win in the men’s, with Niek van der Velden successfully defending his Hintertux title to make it back-to-back victories at the event.
“The setup was even better than last year; the vibes were on point, and it was so much fun to ride,” said Niek.
John Hancheck took second, with Colin Frans – who landed on several Rock A Rail podiums throughout 2025 – finishing third.
Next up, Rock A Rail heads to Amsterdam for its ISPO debut on November 4–5.
