Burton opens its archive on Depop: 50 pieces for 50 years

Burton is opening its archive on Depop for its 50th anniversary: 50 pieces from the late ’70s to the 2000s, all at $50.50 or under, dropping 28 October for US shoppers.

Depop and Burton are launching the Burton Archive Shop on Wednesday 28 October, a one-off drop of 50 archival pieces pulled from Burton’s own collection to mark the brand’s 50th year. Each piece is priced at $50.50 or below, a nod to the milestone, and the shop is open to Depop’s US community only.

The selection spans outerwear, apparel and accessories from the late 1970s through to the 2000s, including pieces from Burton’s sub-labels Analog, Ronin, Mark XIII and Idiom. It is the first in Depop’s new Brand Shop Drop series.

“If you’ve ever wondered what snowboarders were actually wearing back in the day, this drop is your answer,” said Todd Kohlman, Burton’s resident archivist. “These are real pieces from our archive and each one tells you something about how snowboarding looked and felt at the time. Opening the archive with Depop gives a new generation the chance to connect with that history in their own way. These pieces are a part of our story, and it’s going to be awesome to see where this community takes them next.”

The drop is backed by creator content from fashion and snow sports looking at the archive and how its pieces wear today. A second collection is due to follow in mid-November.

The Burton Archive Shop opens on Wednesday 28 October at 3pm ET (7pm UK), while stocks last. Shoppers can sign up for a drop notification at Burton’s Depop shop ahead of launch.
