Trail Blazers – Robin Van Gyn Mentoring the Next Generation of Women’s Snowboarding
Jones Pro Team rider Robin Van Gyn forged her professional career in a rowdy Canadian snowboard culture dominated by the boys. As one of few women in the scene at that time, she learned how to send it, stay safe in the backcountry and navigate a career without many true mentors. A decade of wild and informative shred experiences later, Robin is turning the table on that dynamic with Research & Development, an annual women’s snowboarding event that she hosts at Whitewater Resort in Nelson, BC. The event brings together over a dozen of the best aspiring and veteran female freeriders for a week of sharing knowledge, learning new skills and a little friendly competition. Trail Blazers shares Robin’s vision for R&D, her passion for being a mentor and highlights from the 2024 event. Ride along with Robin and friends as they slash pow and drop cliffs in the name of fun and creating new opportunities for women in snowboarding.
