Two years in the making, Jesse Augustinus’ latest street project takes things back to snowboarding’s roots, with filming across Finland, Sweden and Norway.
In an age of three-second clips and same-day social media releases, Jesse Augustinus is taking a different approach with NORTHBOUND. His latest Red Bull-backed street snowboard project is all about bringing back that OG snowboard feeling, when a full video part could get you so hyped that all you wanted to do was grab your board and head outside.
Two years in the making, NORTHBOUND saw Jesse and his crew build a library of roughly 1,000 spots across Finland, Sweden and Norway. From freezing conditions and multi-day battles for a single clip to carefully selecting the soundtrack, every detail was considered.
The idea behind the project is simple: to inspire the next generation of snowboarders in the same way Jesse was inspired by the riders he looked up to growing up.
“A great part can make you want to head outside right away to go snowboarding. That’s the feeling I want to convey with Northbound,” – Jesse.
Filmed by IV Stuart and edited by Thijs Rigterink, with post-production by Magenta Amsterdam and colour grading by Antonino Durante, NORTHBOUND is a reminder of what goes into creating a proper street snowboard part.
