Nicholas Wolken and filmmaker Matt Foley spent two weeks hunting powder in Hokkaido to see whether the feel of a wave carries over to snow.
Korua Shapes has released Clouds: States of Submersion, a five-minute film following Nicholas Wolken through the lens of Matt Foley on a two-week powder mission across Hokkaido, Japan.
The project grew out of a shared love of surfing and surf films: long, drawn-out turns across an open face and the patient way those moments are caught on camera. Wolken and Foley set out to find where turning on a wave and turning on a mountain start to share the same foundation, earning every run on foot in search of untouched snow and quiet terrain.
